Distraction

Winter has been great so far; busy but great.
We have had a rash of broken stuff already this year, probably more so far this year than in the past two combined. A great opportunity for me to show patience, kindness, gentleness, and self control toward my coworkers who keep on breaking stuff.
Over the past few years, I have been getting closer to the man worthy of attack by distraction, as I have been winning in the more typical sin battles.
3 days ago, I am on my way up for a great day of building roads in our expert terrain, one of the coolest aspects of my job. About 20 minutes into my day, and literally just after finishing listening to a podcast, here it comes on channel 4, Meeker Meeker copy Banister on Channel 4. Tigger (the snowcat) is leaking a lot of coolant.
And just like that, my day was stolen, killed, destroyed. Instead of hanging out with God while building roads in the expert terrain, I was now going to be spending the rest of my day laying under the cat and taking numerous coolant baths. Although sweet to the taste, not the nicest forecast for a day.
At which point the word Distraction came to mind. What was I going to choose to do here? Whine? Mope? Or ask God to join me under Tigger while I took my Glycol shower?
I chose the latter and then later saw that this was for a reason. If I had handled the situation poorly, I would have not gotten to share truth with a coworker who needed to hear some in a rough season of hurt and betrayal in her life.

Finally a morning to relax. Bob Meeker the master of this lake was in his glory here teaching the others the way of luring the native cut throats. Our 4th day allowed the leisure of a late start for the day, and shortly after leaving camp, we were greeted by a beautiful 5x5 bull elk.
After asking God whether or not to make the push out of the East inlet and over the pass into the North inlet, we made the decision and went for it. I don’t think that there were any of us that did not question at some point during that climb whether we had heard God correctly. The climb was extremely challenging. The question that the enemy was posing, “Did you make the right call, is this what God wanted, did you hear correctly?”, came to mind. So classic.
